ABOUT Me
I’ve called Maine home for over 20 years. I’m the author of Stephen King’s Maine: A History & Guide (Arcadia Publishing, 2024), a Maine bestseller exploring the real towns that inspired Stephen King’s fictional settings—personally endorsed by King himself: “This book by Sharon Kitchens is really interesting. Not all of it is right, but most of it is.”
My second book, The Murder of Dorothy Milliken: Cold Case in Maine (Arcadia Publishing, 2025), is a meticulously researched true-crime account of a nearly 50-year-old unsolved Maine homicide. Publishers Weekly praised it as a “complex, ethical retelling of a life ended far too soon.”
I’m currently working on my next project—a cultural study of Stephen King’s female characters. I’m a familiar face at my neighborhood café, often buried in a stack of library books with a lavender latte at my elbow. My fondness for Patti Smith’s poetry is matched only by my love of Taylor Swift’s lyrics. I’m a cat and dog person, and a weekly scribbler over at https://deliciousmusings.substack.com/
